Paula DeFreece, CCS
Paula DeFreece, CCS is an inpatient/outpatient coder at Johnson County Hospital. She began her coding career in 2005 by learning on the job. When thrust into the role of sole coder at her facility after just three months training, Paula spent numerous hours learning the many aspects of the coding profession. In 2012, after years of coding both inpatient and outpatient claims, she decided to pursue her credentials and become certified. In December of 2012, she achieved her goal and became the first certified coding specialist at her facility. Paula loves the challenges coding presents. This is her first year as a member of the NHIMA Coding Roundtable.
